Squad status
The 26-man squad is out, but keep the FIFA final-list caveat visible
Korea Republic announced their 26-player World Cup squad on 16 May 2026. Son Heungmin, Kim Minjae, Lee Kangin, Hwang Heechan, Lee Jaesung and Hwang Inbeom are all included. FIFA still states that all squads are provisional until the final list publication after team submissions on 2 June, so the page should not sound more final than the official process allows. Hwang Inbeom's ankle recovery, Son's starting role and the back-three/four-back decision remain the main pre-match watch points.
ConfirmedConfirmed facts: Korea Republic are ranked No. 25 by FIFA, Hong Myungbo is head coach, they are in Group A with Czechia, Mexico and South Africa, and Korea have announced a 26-man squad.
WatchWatch point: Hwang Inbeom's fitness has been reported as an ankle concern. Son's role as striker, left forward or floating forward will shape Lee Kangin and Hwang Heechan's positions.
Main variableMain variable: Korea have enough players. The issue is whether the midfield can connect the attacking talent to the defensive platform.
